DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
What started as an on-demand creative writing prompt for a class quickly turned into a therapy exercise I didn’t know I needed, for a breakup I’d never had. One day in a writing class, our professor assigned us to all write a narrative story about an object next to us. The girl next to me was wearing a pink baseball hat, and so I started writing about it … and somehow this story flowed out of me. Because even though I hadn’t gone through a breakup, I was deathly afraid of it. Afraid of what the next chapter of life would bring, and what would be lost in the process. And so, it took making this film to fully come to terms with that reality. This is a movie for those who get in their head, those who are weird, and those who ever wondered if the hat in your closet is really offended that it’s just been sitting there collecting dust for far too long. I hope you enjoy :)
